Quad Lock's New Backpack: Keeping Your Gadgets Dry and Protected
We're huge fans of Quad Lock here at GadgetGuy, and it's always a pleasure to support Australian-founded brands that make top-notch gear. Quad Lock's phone accessories and mounts are renowned, and now they've expanded their offerings with a backpack, which we're excited to explore.
The backpack is a collaboration with Swedish company Thule, featuring a 26L capacity and all the essential straps, pockets, and pouches. In Australia, it's priced at $199.99, which is a significant investment.
But what does this nearly $200 buy you? Quad Lock promises a backpack that's both breathable and rugged, with weather-resistant capabilities. It's designed for daily commuters, and the promotional images showcase bike riders, fitting the brand's focus on outdoor activities.
The weather-resistant feature is particularly intriguing. Quad Lock claims to use 'rugged 900D materials,' a dense polyester fabric known for its water-resistant properties, often used in outdoor gear. Additionally, they mention a 'DWR finish,' short for durable water repellent, which causes water to bead on the surface instead of being absorbed. While it's not waterproof, it should shield against light rain or drizzle.
Inside the backpack, a dedicated laptop sleeve can accommodate up to a 17-inch PC, padded to safeguard your tech. This feature, combined with the water-resistant materials, could have potentially prevented a waterlogged MacBook, a personal experience I had last year. It's a shame we'll never know.
Interestingly, there doesn't appear to be any attachment points for Quad Lock's accessories, making it primarily a gadget protection and drying solution. It's now available for purchase on the brand's website.
